Welcome to A Square Game.

This site, and the products behind it, are physical manifestations of pure fanship. We are -- to put it mildly -- fans of Davidson basketball.

Now, there are many who would (and have) called us obsessed. We would agree that those folks have a point, though they should really stop calling people names.

What is certain is that we started this venture not to make money, but to laugh a little bit more and to contribute in some tangible way to the team and the spirit that has given us so much.

A Shirt -- Fight Song Blues

Admittedly, we didn't think this shirt would jive with the long-time Davidson faithful. "Who doesn't know the fight song?" we heard them saying with more than a hint of disdain in their voices.

Also -- if we're being absolutely honest about this -- we know the words to "O Davidson" (as it was called by men of a previous era). As of this Christmas, we actually own a framed vintage version of the song taken from a song book printed in the first half of the 20th century. Fun fact: "O Davidson" has a second verse...

But we also remember being in college. We remember clapping in ignorance to a catchy tune we didn't appreciate fully and, then, when the time came, we remember yelling "FIGHT!" three times at the top of our lungs.

This shirt is a bridge between generations. It simultaneously pays homage to and winks at a piece of timeless Davidson tradition.

In addition to getting our first official mainstream media shout-out ever this week in an ESPN The Magazine piece on newly-minted Davidson bball author, Michael Kruse, another interview let us know that we are indeed reaching our target audience.

Steph Curry sat down with the Dagger (Rivals.com) for a particularly unbelievable Q&A. Here's the excerpt that thrills us:

TD: Does anyone mess up and still call you Stephen (STEE-ven)?
Curry: (Laughs) Yeah, [Saturday] after the game. He said (STEE-ven) can you take a picture with my daughter, or something crazy. I wanted to be rude and say, No. It's (Steff- in) but I was just like, whatever. I saw some shirts actually that say STEFF with a little dash, and then in.
TD: The phonetic pronunciation.
Curry: Yeah. I've seen those, and hopefully it gets the message out a little more. Since the tournament, (the mispronunciations) have gone down dramatically. But, I still get an occasional one or two.

Holy crap.

We'd like to thank our parents, the Academy of course, Nicole for wearing the right shirt at the right time, and everyone else that supported us along this road to ultimate success.

A Community-Based Product

Bottom line: we don't have much money.

This website has free hosting, the order form we're using we made up on our own, we're eating ramen, etc.

Looking through the couch cushions, we found enough money to print a first run of our favorite design. Those are available right now, incidentally. You should order one.

But because we have more ideas than dollars to spend, we figured we'd get some feedback from our potential customer base before diving headlong into the red.

So here it is. If you like a design -- enough to seriously consider buying it in t-shirt form -- pledge your order for that design. When ten pledged orders are confirmed for a given shirt design, we'll print it for everyone to purchase.

Much like the Davidson Honor Code, we hope you'll uphold your order pledge.

With good word-of-mouth, we hope to have enough people looking at this site -- and buying stuff from it -- that we're able to offer a wide range of designs.

Basically, tell your friends.

We'll also accept your input on designs. If you have recommendations for tweaks to current designs, if you have new suggestions, or if you have designs of your own, send them our way via the comments sections or our email.

If we like your ideas, we'll post them here to be considered for order pledges. If people like your design, you might even wake up to a free shirt in your mailbox.

Well, everyone. When it rains, it pours. Once again, you've bent this site to your will.

Not to be stereotyped as just crustacean aficionados, you've come out for a design that features a giant cartoon heart. Don't get us wrong, we LOVE [zing] this shirt -- we made it, after all -- but you continue to amaze us.

This design received something like 7 pledges in its first week and then flat-lined. But, with the recent influx of visitors to the site, Heart Dale was resurgent. Now, those 7 early birds -- and you, too, if you like -- will be getting a LOVE-ly Christmas gift.

Submitting a "pledged order" means that you're affirming your intent to order one (or more) of these shirts, if they are indeed sent to press.

A design will be printed if it receives at least ten pledged orders. Once a design receives ten pledged orders, each of those orders will then be confirmed and processed. You'll get your shirts and you can take pride in knowing that you helped make designs available for all to purchase!

By the way, you won't be charged if other people think a particular shirt is terrible and no one else pledges their order.
